What to expect at Small Change Tattoo:

Consultation

I like to start most tattoos with a free consultation. The free tattoo consultation is designed to ensure your vision is perfectly understood and translated into a unique piece of art. During the consultation, you'll meet with Me in a relaxed, professional setting. You'll discuss your ideas, preferred style, size, and placement, as well as any questions or concerns you may have.

I will provide advice on design feasibility, color choices, and how the tattoo will age over time. This is also the opportunity to review my portfolio, gain clarity on the tattooing process, and understand the aftercare steps necessary for optimal healing.

By the end of the consultation, you'll receive a detailed plan and an estimate for your tattoo, with no obligation to commit. This process ensures you feel confident and well-informed before moving forward. For larger, more involved pieces a Drawing Consultation may be required to flush out the final vision and steps needed to create the final design. At this time if you wish to book an appointment a one hundred dollar non-refundable deposit will be taken and your first tatoo session will be scheduled.

Drawing Consultation

A drawing consultation usually lasts about an hour. During this time, you’ll visit the studio and sit with me. I’ll sketch designs, rough shapes, and flow lines on the area where you want the tattoo to help determine the best fit and placement for the main elements of the design. This session allows both of us to visualize the final concept together. I’ll take a transfer of the rough sketch to assist in the design process. I encourage you to bring any references or inspirations you want considered while I create your tattoo design. Please note that all drawing consultations require a non-refundable one hundred-dollar deposit. If you decide to book a tattoo appointment at the consultation, the deposit will be applied toward it.

Check in

When you arrive for your appointment I will show you the tattoo design and you will be able to provide feedback on design and size. If there any changes to made, they can be discussed. Always speak your mind and let me know and we can make alterations to suit your vision. I am happy accommodate changes to the design if necessary.

Please bring your government issued photo ID to your appointment. Tattoos cannot be done without ID. A photo of your ID will taken and you will fill out a tattoo release form on the studio iPad. The tattoo release form provides relevant health and legal information required by the Board of Health.

With all the legal stuff out of the way, you'll led to the tattoo area where you settle in and get comfortable. Drinks and snacks are provided by the studio, but feel free to bring your own.

Skin Prep and Stencil

The skin will first be thoroughly washed with soap and water to ensure it is clean, then carefully shaved of any body hair. After shaving, the area will be cleaned again using alcohol to disinfect and prepare the skin. Next, a stencil will be applied to the skin using a special stencil solution. At this stage, you will have the opportunity to closely inspect the stencil in the mirror to confirm that the size and placement are exactly how you want it. If you feel the placement needs adjusting, we will gently wipe off the stencil and reapply it in the new, preferred location. Once the stencil is positioned correctly and you feel comfortable with it, we are ready to begin the tattooing process!

The Tattoo

Every effort will be made to ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout the entire tattooing process. If at any point you feel the need to take a break or pause, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I am more than happy to accommodate your needs and make sure your experience is as smooth and pleasant as it can be.

Snacks, water, and sparkling water are available to you at any time throughout your entire tattoo session. Please don’t hesitate to help yourself whenever you feel the need to stay refreshed and energized.
